Dog Crate: When it comes to finding the perfect crate for your new puppy, look no further then Midwest Homes. We recommend night crating throughout the potty training stage, until your puppy can be trusted to lay in a dog bed at night without wondering or pottying on the floor. We don’t recommend leaving your puppy in its crate for hours on end, as this can create stress, separation anxiety as well as other mental health and behavioral issues. When your puppy comes home, they will be missing their mommy and sibings. Let them cling to you for security. We recommend placing the crate next to your bed, making sure the puppy has soft bedding, and sometimes placing a breathable sheet over the cage to create a secure environment. Never let your puppy sit in another room and “cry it out” at night. If a puppy gets too stressed out, it can physically make them ill. A puppy’s crate is meant to be their “safe place” that they feel completely comfortable in. So please make sure you do your research before attempting crate training.
